Goods & Service Tax (GST) was introduced in 2017 in order to simplify indirect taxation and reduce the burden of multiple reporting to various authorities like Sales Tax dept, Service Tax, Octroi, and so on. Any person as defined under the GST Act who is required to pay GST under the GST regime has to register under the GST Act. As per the GST regime business whose turnover exceeds Rs.20 lakhs (Rs.10 lakhs for North Eastern and the Hill States)has to register under GST. GST Registration is compulsory for certain classes of businesses.

GST Registration process is a completely online process in India. A business needs to submit the scan copy of documents and fill in the form on GST Portal with unique Email-ID and Mobile Number.
